Cogniss at the Serious Play Conference

We're back downunder after spending a few awesome days at the Serious Play Conference in New York. There was lots of excitement over the possibilities of low/no-code app creation for health and education, in particular how these platforms are helping democratize the development of tech- and game-based solutions for pressing challenges. Full steam ahead!

Cogniss wins 'Best Innovation Showcase' at SimGHOSTS Australia

Last week, we headed up to the Sunshine Coast to The Gathering of Healthcare Simulation Technology Specialists (SimGHOSTS) to absorb the latest in health tech. We met an incredible bunch of clinicians, educators, researchers, tech designers and game devs on the frontlines of improving patient outcomes through innovative technology. It was great to share about how low/no-code platforms are revolutionizing health app creation, and having the Cogniss platform be awarded the Judges' Award for Best Innovation Showcase was icing on the cake.

Don’t Just Play the Game, Make the Game: Taking Apps to the Next Level

Recently, we were given the chance to share our vision of life-improving, AI-powered apps with  Authority Magazine. Check out the interview with our CEO, Leon Young, on how AI is changing the way we live our lives, and where Cogniss fits into it all.

Excerpt: "Convergences of AI with new fields of knowledge and technologies will drive revolutionary shifts in how we perceive and deliver education and health interventions.

First is the convergence of AI with cognitive science. Algorithms anchored in research around how the brain processes, stores, and recalls information is making it possible for software to map individual learners’ cognitive data. It can also determine what we should be learning, and when, in order to optimize long-term knowledge or behavioral retention.

Secondly, the convergence of AI with innovative low/no-code development platforms is removing the barriers to more widespread creation and adoption of effective educational apps. Educational apps are typically bespoke solutions for a target learning behavior, and app development is a cost-intensive process, especially if the app has to compete with high quality, professional studio-made games. Now, through AI-powered low- or no-code platforms like Cogniss, anyone with minimal or even no coding knowledge can build complex educational software using a simple graphical user interface at a fraction of the cost typically required to employ custom developers.

Finally, the convergence of AI with big data analytics is powering a new generation of platforms and applications capable of processing billion of data points to help detect, track, predict and manage a dizzying variety of learning and health issues. We’re only just beginning to scratch the surface of the valuable insights that deep learning can extract from large, unstructured datasets."

Educhange 2017 in Melbourne, Australia

Soaking in the excitement (and making a presentation or two) with hundreds of other innovators at one of Australia's largest education events, Educhange. We loved sharing our passion for harnessing the power of games in education.

New Learning Times Profile: CEO of Cogniss, Leon Young, tells us what's missing in Edtech

"The application of neuroscience and neuropsychology to learning is having, and will continue to have, a huge impact. We've learned so much about how the brain processes, stores and recalls information, how understanding develops, and what really underpins individual motivation. Yet virtually none of this is being applied in the vast majority of edtech solutions. Edtech is still often relegated to cheaper and more cost effective ways of disseminating information and assessing knowledge, rather than being used to truly enhance the learning experience. We need to move beyond powering old ways of learning with technology, and instead completely rethink the process of teaching and learning."
