Matilda. Endo Surgery Support

An app for patients to prepare for and recover from endometriosis surgery.

One in ten women of reproductive age suffers from endometriosis—that's 190 million women worldwide. The founders of Matilda Health, Joanna Morris and Kevin Wernli, wanted to develop a solution that gives patients access to structured, lived-experience-informed support to help them prepare for and recover from surgery. They built their app using the Cogniss platform.

The Cogniss platform made it possible for them to develop an app quickly that can be enhanced iteratively, without having to invest in a development team.

Key features of the app

  • Symptom tracker

  • Exercises and recommendations to deal with flare-ups

  • Learning modules

  • In-app community

  • Q&A sessions with clinicians and session recordings

  • Registration for live classes and class recordings

  • Locked content and upgrade to paid subscription mode

Built on the ERAS framework, the app has been shown to deliver a 2.88-day reduction in post-surgery hospital stays, a 34% drop in surgical complications, and a 17% decrease in pain within 48 hours post-op. Its success has earned Matilda Health three national innovation awards and a $421,300 grant from WA Health.
