Bringing an innovative idea to life becomes easier when you cultivate a growth mindset and gain access to the right resources.

This is exactly what Imperial College London’s IC Medathon was all about. The medical hackathon, which took place from 18 to 19 Feb, gave participating medical students the opportunity to learn about product ideation, pitching, and no code for digital health.

As a partner of the hackathon, Cogniss demonstrated how clinicians can use our platform to design digital solutions that can make a difference in the UK healthcare industry.

Dr. Lloyd Humphreys, our Managing Director and one of the hackathon’s speakers, highlighted, “Only 20% of the 365,000 apps in the app store meet quality standards.

“A barrier is that clinicians don’t have the technical expertise to create quality apps, but they are the ones who are on the frontline, with direct access to the problem. So we need to empower you, future clinicians, to create high-quality apps.”

IC Medathon organizer and third-year medical student Vaaruni Nayak said, “Cogniss opened many doors for participants who hope to innovate in the sector but lack the technical skills to do so.

“Through Cogniss's no code platform, medical students with insightful ideas have access to a platform to realize these, bringing healthcare innovation to a new level. This was showcased by multiple groups using the platform as the base for their idea.”

The hackathon drew 85 participants and saw the creation of several MVP health apps. Other partners of the hackathon include Entrepreneur First, Pioneer Group, and Kickstart Global.
