Cogniss supports UK Organizations to deliver high-impact digital health hackathons

In September and October, leading UK organizations, including Moorfields Eye Hospital, Suffolk & North Essex ICS and the Universities of Suffolk and Essex hosted their digital health hackathons with support from Cogniss. Each event was delivered in Cogniss’s Hackathon Plus format, designed to accelerate innovation within its host community and help turn ideas into fully working patient-facing digital health solutions.

The programmes included:

  • Moorfields Eye Hospital: Hosted the Moorfields Hackday in September in London. The event brought together clinicians, health workers, designers and coders to co-create solutions for eye care and beyond.

  • Suffolk & North East Essex Integrated Care System (SNEE ICS): Ran their digital health hackathon in October in Ipswich to identify practical digital solutions for key health challenges in the region.

  • University of Suffolk and University of Essex: Held their events in October in Ipswich and Colchester. Each university engaged its academic communities to foster digital health innovations.

The Cogniss Hackathon Plus format goes further than a traditional hackathon. Winning teams receive 6–12 months of structured support to evolve their prototypes into a scalable app, ready for evaluation, piloting and adoption. With Cogniss’s no-code platform, participants gain hands-on guidance, app-building resources and a pathway to real-world impact.

By embedding Hackathon Plus into their innovation pipelines, organizations like Moorfields and SNEE ICS more than just engaged and inspired participants over a weekend. They created momentum that will generate tangible digital health IP, accelerated the journey from idea to implementation and strengthened innovation culture with outcomes that will scale beyond the event.
