Cogniss partners with the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme
Cogniss is pleased to join as a Programme Partner for the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, supporting NHS-led innovation and capability-building. We will provide expertise and educational support, including webinars, workshops and participation in the Programme’s workforce development activities for NHS staff and healthcare professionals.
As a well-established NHS initiative, the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, delivered by Anglia Ruskin University, supports NHS staff and healthcare professionals in developing entrepreneurial skills and experience while remaining within the health service. The Programme offers a 12-month structured development pathway to explore ideas and engage with relevant networks. Now in its ninth year, the Programme has supported more than 1,500 individuals across the health system.
Cogniss brings proven experience in helping NHS teams build and progress patient-facing digital health solutions without code. Its partnerships with organisations across the NHS, including Health Innovation East, Health Innovation West Midlands, Moorfields Eye Hospital, and NHS Suffolk and North East Essex ICB, have delivered a range of innovation initiatives that support NHS staff, academics and innovators in developing early-stage digital health ideas and progressing them towards real-world application.
Professor Tony Young OBE, Clinical Lead for the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme and Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Anglia Ruskin University, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Cogniss as a programme partner, strengthening the practical support available to our participants. Cogniss’ involvement will give them access to digital tools and expertise that complement our mentoring, peer learning and wider partner network.”
Through partnership with the Health Innovation East in the Health Innovation East Digital Hub programme, Cogniss' specialised no-code technology and expertise have supported more than 30 innovators across 15 NHS Trusts, with a growing pipeline of clinically led apps progressing towards NHS pilots. Participants are supported with tailored tools for evidence generation and DTAC compliance, designed to reduce common barriers to adoption and scale. The programme has received industry recognition, including being named Health Tech Team of the Year at the HTN Now Awards 2025 and selected as a finalist for Best Educational Programme at the 2026 HSJ Partnership Awards.
“The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme plays an important role in supporting NHS staff to explore innovation and develop entrepreneurial skills. As a programme partner, Cogniss is pleased to work with NHS CEP and its wider partner network to provide practical digital skills, experience and support that help participants apply their learning in real-world settings,” said Dr Lloyd Humphreys, Managing Director at Cogniss.
